Onyemelukwe cautioned security agencies on the shoot-on-sight directive, noting that it will only aggravate the situation.
In recent months, there have been several attacks against government operatives and facilities in Southern States.
The latest was the Sunday invasion of the Police B-Division and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) State Office in Awka.
In a statement on Monday, Onyemelukwe urged those at the upper echelons of power to work harder to regain the confidence of the people.
“I am aware of prevailing challenges, unmet needs and related issues that need to be discussed. But the solutions we seek cannot be realized by the force of arms and violence.

However, in a situation like this, there are pretenders and contenders. The flag-bearers of the political parties will emerge after primaries, where aspirants will test their popularity.
After the primaries of the three political parties: APGA, APC and PDP, expectations are that there would be political realignment as those who could not pick the ticket may jump ship to actualise their dreams.
While some are seen as serious contenders others are said to be trying the murky waters and would most likely bow out as the contest gets tougher.

By the deadline of official expression of interest for aspirants in the PDP, 16 persons had picked forms and have been screened by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja; and the result is being awaited. Each of the male aspirants paid N27million while the three females paid N6million.

THE16 governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the November 6 election in Anambra State have shifted the battle for the ticket of the party to the Wadata House, the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Apart from the three women namely, Mrs. Chidi Onyemelukwe, the daughter of the former vice president of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Mrs. Genevieve Ekwochi and Senator Uche Ekwunife, who were exempted from paying the mandatory N25 million, the others paid a total of N27 million, including N5 million for the upkeep of the Anambra State secretariat of the party.

THE daughter of the late vice president of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme , Mrs. Chidi Onyemelukwe has said that she is fully prepared to serve as governor of Anambra State, having acquired the necessary experience in governance.
Onyemelukwe, who was the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Anambra 2017 election, has already purchased the PDP nomination form for the November 6 election and has been touring the various wards in the state to mobilize supporters for the June primary of the party.
Speaking after the election of a new chairman for PDP in Nnewi North local government area, Onyemelukwe said although all the aspirants presenting themselves for consideration under the platform of PDP were eminently qualified to govern the state, the party delegates should endeavour to nominate a flag bearer who would serve the state with the fear of God.
