The immediate past President of Nigeria Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Mr. Chidi Ilogu (SAN) has made a case for the training of young maritime lawyers to enable them acquire proper understanding of admiralty practice.
Ilogu, who is also the Senior Partner of Foundation Chambers, stated this during the inauguration of the new executives of NMLA in Lagos.
The event also marked the official induction of a new partner of Foundation Chambers, Ms. Kashimana Tsumba, who heads the Shipping, Multi-Modalism and Corporate practice arm of the firm.
Ilogu noted that one of the problems facing the maritime industry is lack of good understanding of admiralty practice by lawyers.

THE immediate past President of Nigeria Maritime Law Association (NMLA), Mr. Chidi Ilogu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, has made a strong case for the training of young maritime lawyers to enable them acquire proper understanding of admiralty practice.
Mr. Ilogu, who is also the Senior Partner of Foundation Chambers, spoke in Lagos on Thursday during the inauguration of the new executives of NMLA. The event also marked the official induction of a new partner of Foundation Chambers, Ms. Kashimana Tsumba, who heads the Shipping, Multi-Modalism and Corporate practice arm of the firm.

Mrs Funke Agbor SAN has been elected President of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA). She is the first female president of the association.
Other officers elected at the end of the body’s Special General Meeting held on Thursday 8 April 2021 were Mike Igbokwe SAN as the 1st Vice President; Olumide Sofowora SAN as 2nd Vice President; and Emeka Akabogu as Honorary Secretary.
Others are Nneka Obianyor (Assistant Secretary); Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore (Treasurer); Oluseyi Adejuyigbe (Financial Secretary) and Adedoyin Afun (Publicity Secretary).
