The Enugu State Police Command has appealed to law-abiding residents of Oruku community to remain calm, while it hunts the killers of their town union Vice Chairman, Samuel Ani, who was shot dead at his residence.
The command, in a statement by Daniel Ndukwe, regretted the callous and brutal killing of Ani by those it said should have protected him if he was being attacked.
The statement read in part, “The command received an incident report that on February 24, 2021 around 7.30am, hoodlums suspected to be among the warring factions in Oruku community shot and murdered one Samuel Ani at his residence in the community.

Residents of Enugu metropolis in Enugu State, on Monday, lamented the acute water shortage that hit the city.
The problem of water scarcity in the state capital, which has thrown many residents into hardship, is as old as the city itself. It has defied all solutions by different administrations.
The situation, it was learnt, grew worse following the breakdown of the Oji Water Scheme, which supplies water to the metropolis, coupled with vandalism of water pipes, which makes it difficult to reticulate the commodity.
Residents of New Layout, Obiagu, Ogui, New Market, GRA, New Haven and Independence Layout are most hit by the acute water shortage as some do not even have board, while those who have do not get water regularly.

Disturbed by the high rate of destruction of natural heritage in Enugu metropolis and its environs, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Wednesday vowed to deal ruthlessly with land speculators defacing the natural environment in the state.
Speaking through his Commissioner for Information, Chidi Aroh, the governor said that the destruction of natural vegetation could create disaster in the state capital through erosion.
