CHICOPEE – With a tight real estate market, the city’s first auction in several years drew more than 75 people who vied in bidding wars for every single property, even on parcels that were way too small for a house.
In the end, the city earned $763,000, more than balancing out the cost from unpaid taxes and fees and the legal costs of taking the land for lack of tax payments and putting it back on the market, City Treasurer Marie Laflamme said.
