Following the death of prolific film producer, Chico Maziakpono Ejiro, Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has expressed shock and sadness over the occurrence.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, in Abuja, Omo-Agege said that the exceptional movie director and producer was a pillar of productivity in Nollywood which skyrocketed Nigerian films globally.
He noted that while the death of Chico Ejiro is painful, solace must be taken in his exceptional impact and productivity as a movie director, screenwriter, and producer who excelled in his chosen field.
Omo-Agege stressed that even with limited technical resources in the 1990s, Chico Ejiro who originally studied Agricultural Science blazed a trail by shooting scores of movies within very short periods, sometimes as short as three days.
According to close friends, he died on Christmas day.
While the cause of his death is yet to confirmed, reports say he died after battling kidney disease.
Biglo was popular especially in the early 2000s with hits such as Delicious featuring fellow musician, 2shotz.
Tributes have been pouring in from friends and colleagues.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has described the death of veteran film producer, Chico Ejiro, as a huge blow to the nation’s creative industry in general, and Nollywood in particular.
In a statement signed by Segun Adeyemi, a Special Assistant to the President, Office of the Ministry of Information Culture, the minister expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and indeed the entire Creative Industry.
He described the late Ejiro as a prolific movie director and a shining star of Nollywood.
