Buffalo Singer Drea D Nur Releases Tribute Song for George Floyd

Enter your number to get our free mobile app Yasmin Young s Interview with Drea D Nur Drea D Nur has released Mama Please, a tribute song, inspired by the tragic death of George Floyd. The video for the song is a tribute to Cariol Horne. Mama Please is a powerful song, echoing the last words of George Floyd, who was killed by Minneapolis police officers, who ignored his pleas for his life. The song was written and produced by Chicago-based MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, Dr. Rami Nashashibi and Buffalo-native Drea D’Nur. The video for the song is a tribute to Cariol Horne, a former Buffalo Police officer, who stopped a fellow officer from choking a Black man in handcuffs. Cariol lost her job and her pension because she spoke up against another officer s actions. During our interview, Drea spoke about Cariol being painted as the villain. It s hard to understand how anyone could twist her actions - saving a man s life - into something villainous.
