KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI continued to slide headed into midday as the rising number of Covid cases cast fears of yet another return to a movement control order.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was down 8.18 points to 1,593.47, losing its grip on the 1,600 psychological resistance despite Wall Street s positive performance last week in anticipation of strong corporate earnings.
Sepculation over MCO3.0 and talk of businesses once again shuttering their physical locations had investors on edge on Monday, a day after a Star report cited sources claiming another lockdown.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has since said a decision to review the current restrictions has yet to be made.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session easier on profit-taking on selected heavyweight stocks, led by Petronas Dagangan and Hartalega.
Petronas Dagangan slipped 38 sen to RM19.78 and Hartalega shed 20 sen to RM10.08.
At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) eased 8.18 points to 1,593.47 from Friday’s close of 1,601.65.
The index opened 0.44 of-a-point higher at 1,602.09 and moved between 1,592.84 and 1,602.09 throughout the morning session.
Bursa Malaysia ends weaker
KUALA
LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended the day weaker on persistent profit-taking seen in almost all heavyweight counters, led by Top Glove, IHH and Hartalega.
At 5 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 10.92 points to 1,590.73 from Friday’s close of 1,601.65.
The index opened 0.44 of-a-point firmer at 1,602.09 the highest level of the day and fell as low as 1,588.89 throughout the day.
Market breadth remained negative with losers thumping gainers 912 to 301, while 350 counters were unchanged, 590 untraded and five others suspended.
Total volume fell to 6.68 billion shares worth RM4.26 billion from 6.75 billion shares worth RM4.61 billion last Friday.
