Stable supporting industries crucial to local manufacturing

Wednesday, 13:12, 07/04/2021 Stable supporting industries and restructuring of chains for industrial production are crucial to improving the country’s manufacturing sector, according to Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). Assembling cars at Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (Samco) VCCI has worked out a plan to develop appropriate policies for supporting industries towards minimising reliance on imports of raw materials as well as reducing prolonged, simple and low-value-added processes, like packaging, production of manuals, and plastic components. This will enable Vietnam to not only create more value and put the country in a better position in the global supply chain, but will create more opportunities for Vietnam in terms of free trade agreements (FTAs).

MPI Minister Nguyen Chi Dung met with enterprises on March 1 to learn about the situation and design policies to give supplementary support to help enterprises cope with the difficulties caused by Covid-19. A similar meeting was held at the same time last year where businesspeople talked about their problems and made proposals. After the meeting, the ministry gave advice to the government to set up policies to support enterprises.
