Since its inception in the 1960s as a form of resistance against Pakistani rule, Chhayanaut's New Year celebration at Ramna Batamul in Dhaka has become a hallmark event, marking the commencement of the Bangla New Year’s festivities.
Marking Rabindranath Tagore's 160th birth anniversary, Chhayanaut organised a virtual cultural programme. Titled Dhor Nirbhoy Gaan, the theme of the event was to hope, and to be brave. After cancelling Pohela Boishakh celebrations in its traditional form and taking their programme to YouTube earlier this year, Chhayanaut will be celebrating Rabindranath Tagore s birth anniversary digitally.
On the occasion of the poet s 160th birth anniversary, the institute will host a programme, titled Dhor Nirbhoy Gaan .
It will be streamed live from Chhayanaut s YouTube and Facebook pages at 9 pm tomorrow (May 8).
