Medford Police investigating the origins of Sunday s fire on the Greenway About five acres of area burned along the Bear Creek Greenway when a fire broke out around 4:30 pm Sunday evening. Police and fire officials say that the cause of a grass fire along the Bear Creek Greenway is still under investigation as of Monday. The fire erupted in the Greenway on Sunday afternoon, moving quickly. It grew to border Camping World and the old Crater Meat Packing property along Chevy Way and Biddle Road, respectively. Fire officials reported that fire s location and the surrounding buildings made it difficult for firefighters to attack it directly. Soon, authorities evacuated the nearby businesses, and shut down Biddle Road for the response. Rogue Retreat also evacuated the nearby Urban Campground, loading the residents into a bus for transport away from the area.
