Kadapa: The ruling YSR Congress has won all the panchayats in Pulivendula assembly constituency represented by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, in this district. The panchayat elections proved that the support for the YSRC and Jagan here has not diminished.
Pulivendula has a total of 109 panchayats. Election could not be held for one panchayat – Velamavaripalle in Vempalli mandal. Five candidates had filed nominations there but all of them withdrew the papers later. There were unanimous elections in 90 panchayats. In the remaining 18 panchayats, YSRC supporters won the polls hands down on Sunday.

ANANTAPUR: Anantapur district is all set to conduct the fourth phase of gram panchayat polls. Additional forces, including 150 rapid striking contingents, have been deployed in hyper-sensitive parts of Penukonda, Hindupur and Madakasira areas of Penukonda revenue division, which is dominated by factionists. A tense situation is prevailing in several villages of Lepakshi, Roddam and Penukonda areas.

Kadapa: State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar said on Saturday that shadow teams are being deployed to keep a watch on the Gram Panchayat elections and take appropriate action if anyone violated poll rules.
“It is the duty of the election commission to hold elections at the right time. The elections would be held in accordance with the Constitutional stipulations,” he told the media after holding a review meeting with officials here. The SEC said ten petitions seeking a stay of the elections were under consideration of the court.

Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Sake Sailajanath said on Wednesday that the Congress party will prove its strength in the local body elections if the poll process is done in a fair manner and no violence is indulged in by the ruling party.
“If the ruling YSRC engages goons in this election, we will resist such actions,” he said and urged the officials to hold the elections in an impartial manner.
