Bangladesh is likely to reduce its HSFO imports in May by around 11.1% from April on the back of lower consumption during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and resumption of natural gas production from the country’s largest gas field Bibiyana, market sources said. Bangladesh is likely to import around 400,000 mt of high sulfur fuel oil in May .
The yield of Kailash Tila, the main source for Sylhet Gas Fields Ltd, was about 69 million cubic feet per day in 2016 but it dropped to 42 million cubic feet in January last year.
After four days of disruption, the Chevron-operated Bibiyana gas field resumed full production from this morning – which is likely to end the gas crisis in parts of Bangladesh.
