The museum, which is operating under its normal spring hours, has two new exhibits on display.
âBlack in Appalachia: African American History in Kingsportâ is a traveling exhibit on loan to the Chester Inn Museum from the Kingsport Archives.
The 10-panel exhibit explores the hand that community leaders and organizations had in shaping the African American experience in Kingsport. The exhibit covers five different aspects of life for African Americans in the city, and was compiled by the Kingsport Archives and the group Black in Appalachia, which, according to their website, âworks to highlight the history and contributions of African Americans in the development of the mountain south and its culture.â
