Chester County officials call for pipeline shutdown

WEST CHESTER â Chester County Commissioners fired off a letter Monday asking the Public Utilities Commission to halt operation of two Mariner East pipelines while further investigation is conducted. Commissioners asked that the impact on public safety be ascertained, with the impact from a recent outbreak of likely construction-induced sinkholes near the lines. The sinkholes occurred near construction sites for the 350- mile Mariner East 2 pipeline. The lines in question are Energy Transferâs Mariner East 1 eight-inch and 12-inch natural gas liquid pipelines. Both pipelines have been in the ground for about 80 years, but only began carrying NGLs under high pressure much more recently.

Chester County Opens 13 Secure Drop Boxes For May 18 Primary

Reply Chester County will place 13 secure ballot drop boxes at locations throughout Chester County for the May 18 Primary Election absentee and mail-in ballots. (Chester County Commissioners Office) CHESTER COUNTY, PA – Chester County has announced steps it will take to support the May 18 primary election. These steps include 13 secure ballot drop boxes for mail-in and absentee ballots, which will be located at 12 libraries across the county, plus one at the Chester County Government Services Center in West Chester. Ten of the drop boxes will be staffed during business hours (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday).

(Ginny Kerslake) CHESTER COUNTY, PA The Department of Environmental Protection on Earth Day sent investigators to Marsh Creek Lake to collect samples of an unidentified substance reported on the banks of the lake. A DEP spokesperson said the department has taken samples of gray muddy clay deposits showing up in Marsh Creek Lake near the site of a more than 8,000-gallon drilling fluid spill into the wetlands in August 2020. Sunoco s Mariner East 2 pipeline construction was halted after the accident, and an effort has been ongoing to reroute the pipeline around the state parklands.
