Dean Moorhouse Seen As Leading Contender To Replace Chester Bankston Thursday, April 22, 2021 Dean Moorhouse, a Republican activist in District 9, is seen as a possible replacement for County Commissioner Chester Bankston. Commissioner Bankston, who has been on the commission since 2010, announced Wednesday that he is moving to Florida to be close to his daughter. He said he has already sold his house, but will serve until the end of May. The appointment of his replacement will be by the eight remaining members of the commission. Mr. Moorhouse, a leader in the Pachyderm Club, is a contender. Steve Highlander, a County School Board member, is also interested in the post.

County Commissioner Chester Bankston Resigns; Moving To Florida Wednesday, April 21, 2021 Chester Bankston Chester Bankston, longtime member of the Hamilton County Commission, announced Wednesday that he is moving to Florida and will be resigning his post. It will be up to the other members of the commission to name his replacement in District 9. The longtime Ooltewah resident went to Birchwood Community High School and studied at Northeast State Junior College. He worked for many years as an electrician at the Hamilton County Department of Education and later had his own electrical firm. A frequent lottery player, he has had a couple of big ticket wins.

Apr. 21—District 9 Hamilton County Commissioner Chester Bankston will retire from his seat in May, halfway through his third term. Bankston, who was elected to the commission in 2010 and served on the county school board from 2006-2010, will leave his seat with over a year left before the next commission election in August 2022 to move to Florida. "It's kind of bitter and sweet," Bankston .
