hi, everyone. thanks so much for joining me in washington, d.c. i m jessica dean in for fredricka whitfield today. a city and nation in shock. hours after memphis police released videos of the brutal killing of tyre nichols. the full videos released last night show five former memphis police officers repeatedly beating the 29-year-old. and i want to warn you. what we re about to show you is extremely graphic. the videos document nichols being pulled over earlier this month for alleged reckless driving. place are seen yanking him from the car, chasing, kicking him, using pepper spray and batons. nichols, who is unarmed, crying for miss his mother at one poin. he died from his injuries three days later in the hospital. those videos are sparking largely peaceful protests across the country overnight and into today. earlier this week the five officers were charged with second-degree murder and now after this video has come out, two officers from a different department who were al
caught up in the drama after papers with classified markings were discovered at the indiana home of former president mike pence. let s bring in our panel, wall street journal columnist dan henninger and kim strassel and editorial board member men au quai barua. so kim, first of all, was it the right thing for facebook to do to restore the former president and what impact will it have politically? yeah well on the substance, absolutely, paul, because what we know, at least from the twitter files is that there wasn t many valid reasons for actually getting rid of him in the first place. you have to assume that was the same for facebook. there s also even bigger questions, too, about the wisdom of removing someone that high profile from what is essentially become a public square. politically however, you ve got to wonder if this isn t in a way a gift to democrats. they very much want donald trump to be front and center. now we don t know if he s going to go back to use facebook,

[screaming] get on the ground. i am on the ground. leighton, lay down. i will tase you. get on the ground. stop, all right, okay. okay. put your hands behind your back. you guys are really doing a lot right now. i am just trying to go home. i am on the ground. lay on your stomach. i am. stop, i am not doing anything. that is when they gave chase. they eventually caught up to hanley. attorney described what happened next. three minutes of unadulterated, unabashed, nonstop beating. it is being compared to the 1991 video of los angeles police officers beating rodney king. you can hear his last words. again, all of the footage is disturbing. watch out. mom! mom! tyre nichols died in the hospital three days later. he was a son, a father to a
murder charges against ex-officers there in that case will continue later in the program with maya wiley. we also have a twist in the trial of trump aide peter navarro, that had been slated to start monday. i have a breakdown on that coming up. a lot of new information. and we ll get into why it matters. the top story right now is new evidence in the continuing domestic terror that this nation faces. right-wing political violence. authorities releasing new footage from that attack on the spouse of former speaker pelosi. paul pelosi. the violent and disturbing footage shows the attackers approach on the pelosi s home and the horrific attack, i think we can look at this in full. this was 11 days before the midterm election. this is the political violence that many republican officials failed to condemn or even minimize. here s what police found when they confronted the intruder. it because we put so much on the onus of individual shoulders. and the broad aggregate sense, it s way better than i feared it would be. we will take that statement and run with it. thank you, my friend. thanks to you at home for joining us this hour. one of the many revelations to come out of the january six committee hearings was trump attorney general bill barr described, in his own words, how he pushed back against trump s claims of election fraud. he called those claims bogus, crazy stuff, and, most incuriously, complete bias. despite the heroic headlines generated by barr s testimony, it is a good point to remember that barr did not say anything publicly debunking those same claims of election fraud until december 1st, which was nearly a month after the 2020 election. in fact, before his post trump rehabilitation tour, this was the bill barr we knew. what happened to the president in the 2016 election, and throughout the first two years of his administration, was a
