5 charged after nearly 100 people found in southwest Houston home article
HOUSTON - Officials say five people were taken into custody after nearly 100 undocumented noncitizens were found in a home in southwest Houston.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas, a criminal complaint charges Marina Garcia-Diaz, 22, El Salvador; Henry Licona-Larios, 31, Copan, Honduras; Kevin Licona-Lopez, 25, Santa Barbara, Honduras; Marco Baca-Perez 30, Michoacan, Mexico; and Marcelo Garcia-Palacios, 21, Oaxaca, Mexico.
The five individuals are all allegedly noncitizens of the United States residing here illegally. The criminal complaint, filed Saturday, alleges all five harbored, concealed and shielded illegal aliens for the purpose of commercial advantage or private financial gain, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas said in a release.

A neighborhood in Texas was left in shock after law enforcement agencies discovered a human smuggling operation inside a home. According to the Houston Police Department on Friday, officers had received reports of a kidnapping the night before and they were working around-the-clock to locate a potential address.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is investigating after more than 90 people were found in a house in southwest Houston in what police are calling a human smuggling operation.
Assistant Police Chief Daryn Edwards said police received a kidnapping call Thursday night, and the homicide division worked through the night to enter the house with a tactical team. When they got inside the house they realized that this is actually going to turn into a human smuggling investigation, Edwards said at a Friday news conference, adding, It was a big surprise when we got in the house and saw what we saw.
