Dan Lucas Inducted into Georgia Hall of Fame

On Saturday April 20, 2024, Senior Director of Strategic Communication Dan Lucas was inducted into the Georgia Chess Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place before the start of round two at the Georgia State Championship tournament.

2023 U S Open: Grand Rapids, Grandmasters, and Grand Meetings

The 2023 U.S. Open ran from July 29 to August 6 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It offered nine-day, six-day, and four-day schedules, which merged in round 7. The U.S. Open Champion is GM Andrew Tang. 2023 Chess Journalist of America Awards

Writers, columnists, photographers and analysts from US Chess had much to celebrate at the annual Chess Journalists of America (CJA) meeting on August 2 in Grand Rapids. US Chess took home 26 awards, including two of the “big three” – John Hartmann won “Best Story of the Year” for his January 2023 “L’affaire Niemann,” while WGM Tatev Abrahamyan was awarded the “Best Column” prize in her first year of eligibility.  

Call for Nominations: 2023 Chess Journalist of America Awards

The Chess Journalists of America once again sends out a call for nominations for the annual Chess Journalists of America (CJA) awards. The CJA awards recognize the best in all facets of chess journalism, both print and online. The best chess articles, columns, photojournalism, layout, and online writing are honored within their respective categories. Recognized annually by their peers, the public, and members of CJA, the prestigious awards showcase American works published in English between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
