Closer to the coast, anglers have been finding a good largemouth feeding where there's warmer water, while to the west, where fishable ice persists, anglers have been getting into a good pike and panfish bite.
With recent weather limiting safe ice in some locations, anglers are finding pickerel among nondescript ponds and pike in select locked-up water bodies.
Freshwater ice anglers are heading west and north for safe ice to target pass, trout and panfish, while in the salt, headboats are sailing out for redfish, haddock and pollock.
Despite rain and warming weather, most water bodies out west have remained locked up with fishable ice, providing anglers ample access to hungry crappie, bass, pickerel, trout, and pike.
