Cheshire voters to pick two new selectmen Monday

Cheshire: COA accepting unserviceable flags

The Council on Aging, in collaboration with the Adams American Legion Post 160, are offering the Cheshire community a formal ceremony for the disposal of old unserviceable American flags at 6 p.m. Monday, June 14, Flag Day. The ceremony, to which the public is invited regardless of age, will take place at the bus circle at the former Cheshire Elementary School. Worn, torn, faded, or otherwise unserviceable flags can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday up to the day before the event, at the COA, 119 School St., where they will be stored in a respectful manner until the ceremony.

Cheshire Makes Some Progress With School District Lease

The board members volleyed the updated agreement Tuesday to the School Committee to gauge its feelings on a possible rent increase.      The discussion began after the former town administrator gave the district permission to clean out the old library space to house a remote access space for teachers without a stable internet connection for remote instruction.   It was found that the room was not actually part of the central office s lease agreement and, after taking a deeper look at the agreement, it was agreed by all parties that it needed to be updated.   Superintendent Arron Dean said the district would be interested in adding the room permanently to its lease. He said the current Special Education office is quite small and the larger library would be a better fit.

Ciskowski Resigns From Cheshire Select Board

As much as I like this Town, my ability to serve in Town Government has been compromised by what I believe to be serious violations of the Public Trust by another elected official, Ciskowski wrote. My moral convictions and what I hold as true are more powerful than my like for helping out with local government.   Ciskowski wrote that around the time of Town Administrator Edmund St. John IV s departure late last year, he felt he had experienced state ethics violations and Open Meeting Law violations while on the board.   I contemplated filing with the appropriate State agencies my concerns, but at this point, hold that it is best for the taxpayers and voters for me to remain silent, he wrote.
