CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A local animal shelter is warning the public of a scheme involving people asking for donations on its behalf.
The Chesapeake Humane Society said Wednesday it has gotten word of people going door to door collecting donations on behalf of the shelter. Staff are reminding people that the shelter never solicits donations this way.
CHS says it primarily accepts donations via mailed checks, donations made in person and donations made securely online here.
If you live in Chesapeake and have been solicited, you are asked to notify the humane society.
