SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - This week is National Volunteer Week and the Helpline Center is honoring local volunteers who made a big difference in 2020. Volunteering isn’t about getting something in return but the Helpline Center didn’t want peoples’ generosity to go unnoticed in the past year, so the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards have taken on a new format. “We switched things up this year because the last year was so different, in so many aspects, that we really wanted to appreciate any volunteer that went out and helped in any way during the pandemic,” Helpline Center Volunteer Service Director Susie Ryks said.
