Shooting of Cherryville man now a homicide case
A Cherryville man shot in the head on Monday, May 3, has died, and police upgraded the charges against the suspect in the shooting to first-degree murder on Friday, according to court records.
Rhonschoci Markee Flack Jr., 24, of 2573 Crab Apple Trail, Denver, died Tuesday, May 4, from his injuries at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to Cherryville Police.
Kendra Adaire Odums, 22, who lives at 218 Heather Lane, had been in Gaston County Jail without bond since the shooting on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Police upgraded the charge to first-degree murder on Friday morning.
Police say a Cherryville woman shot a man in the head late Monday.
Officers were called to apartment 7A at 218 Heather Lane, located within the Cherrywood apartment complex, in Cherryville at 10:35 p.m. Monday in reference to a shooting.
Officers found a man - identified as 24-year-old Rhonschoci Markee Flack Jr., according to an arrest warrant for Odums - suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.
Flack was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, then transferred to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he remains listed in critical condition, according to Cherryville Police.

Search warrants completed by Cherryville Police officers since the tragic death of a 3-year-old girl in January provide more details of the moments she became unresponsive.
Anna Lee Tadych, who lived at 5307 Dellinger Circle in Cherryville with her 26-year-old mother, Jenna Michelle Melton, died on Jan. 5. Police, who have suspected the mother of causing her daughter’s death, arrested and charged the toddler’s mom with involuntary manslaughter on Tuesday, April 27.
Officers, who were initially called to Tadych and Melton’s home, arrived to Dellinger Circle on Jan. 5 to find the child lying on the floor at a neighboring home, where Tadych’s father, Randall Tadych, lived at the time, according to a search warrant issued on Jan. 12.

On Tuesday, Cherryville Police charged Jenna Michelle Melton, 26, of Dellinger Circle in Cherryville, with involuntary manslaughter in the death of her daughter, Anna Lee Tadych who died on Jan. 5.
Melton was booked into Gaston County Jail Tuesday and placed on a hold. She appeared in court Wednesday, where she was assigned a $500,000 bond.

Officers were first called to Dellinger Circle on Jan. 5, in response to an unresponsive child. Tadych was found with abrasions to her face and back, said Assistant District Attorney Debbie Gulledge during Melton’s first appearance in court Wednesday.

CHERRYVILLE, N.C. A Cherryville woman was arrested in connection with the January death of her 3-year-old daughter, according to police.
Cherryville Police said 26-year-old Jenna Michelle Melton was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of her daughter, Anna Lee Tadych.
According to a news release, Anna Tadych died on January 5. Police have not released any additional information on how the child died along with what led up to Melton being charged.
Melton was held on no bond and placed in the Gaston County Detention Center, according to police.
