A Minister s Salary, 8,000 Yuan a Month? | China Digital Times (CDT)

Posted by Mo Ming | Mar 10, 2007 Chen Zhili (ÈôàËá≥Á´ã), a member of China’s State Council (ÂõΩÂä°ÂßîÂëò), said at the CPPCC that her monthly compensation, including salary and all stipends, is 10,000 yuan ($1,250), reports Singtaonet. Minister of Science and Technology, Xu Guanhua (ÂæêÂ܆Âçé), also exposed that his monthly compensation is 8,000 yuan ($1,000). China’s leaders rarely reveal their incomes. A few years ago, the administration pushed through a so-called “Sunshine Project”, the “Three Five Eight One” Project, which regulates the income ceilings of officials at different levels. The annual income ceilings are, section heads (ÁßëÈïø) 30,000 yuan, division chiefs (§ÑÈïø) 50,000 yuan, bureau chiefs (±ÄÈïø) 80,000 yuan, and ministers (ÈÉ®Èïø) 100,000 yuan.
