KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 Buddhists in the country celebrated Wesak Day today on a moderate scale with the new normal practices in place due to the nationwide movement control order (MCO).
Although devotees are not allowed to visit temples, the use of technology has helped them to participate in prayer services via online streaming, as carried out by the Subang Jaya Buddhist Association and Bandar Utama Buddhist Society.
IPOH: More than 5,000 security enforcement personnel in Perak will receive face shields and hygiene kits from the state government.
In a statement, Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said the items are part of the government’s initiative to ensure that security frontliners are well protected in the midst of the ongoing enhanced movement control order implemented in four sub-districts in the state.
“I would personally like to thank all the enforcement teams who have worked hard to curb Covid-19 from spreading. I have full confidence in their dedication that will help us to break the Covid-19 chain, ” he said on Monday (May 24).

IPOH – Any individual who is unhappy with being compounded for violating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during the period of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Perak, can appeal to the authorities.
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid in a statement today said that was among the options available other than the individual could appear in court to appeal during the trial.

“If the compounded person is not satisfied or refuses to admit wrongdoing, he can choose two options, namely to appeal to the District Health Office (PKD) or go to court and claim trial,” he said in the statement.

IPOH: Essential service workers in four sub-districts in Perak which have been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) are no longer required to furnish health screening tests results to enter and exit the areas.
Perak police chief Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid (pix, centre) said they were only required to present either a valid work pass or employer’s authorisation letter.
“Prior to this, the standard operating procedure (SOP) stipulated that any essential service workers who live in EMCO areas and work outside must undergo a health screening first at the closest health clinics.
“In accordance with the latest SOP, health screenings are no longer required,” he said in a brief statement last night.
IPOH: The state government will allocate RM2.38mil to help the B40 group affected by the enhanced movement control order.
In a statement issued by the Perak Mentri Besar‘s office, it said RM1.2mil would be channelled to the four districts in the state under the enhanced MCO through the Land and District Office (PDT).
The four districts that come under the enhanced MCO are Hulu Perak district (Mukim Pengkalan Hulu), Larut, Matang and Selama districts (Mukim Taiping), Kinta district (Mukim Hulu Kinta covering Ipoh, Lahat, Chemor and Tanjung Rambutan) and Muallim district (Mukim Hulu Bernam Timur).
For the first two districts - Kinta, as well as the Larut, Matang and Selama offices - would receive RM400,000 respectively.
