Coronavirus cases have surged in Berks County, Pennsylvania and the United States, leading health officials to urge residents to stay home and not travel.
Mayor Eddie Moran, who has long advocated for following the recommendations of health officials, has come under fire for traveling to Puerto Rico for nine days over the past couple of weeks.
Moran said his visit to Puerto Rico was a personal trip to see his 86-year-old mother.

âSo we could share some quality time while she is in relatively good health,â Moran said. âIâm big on family. I didnât want to wait until sheâs bedridden or not in 100% health to visit her.â
