Photo: Evan Taylor Flying in Lunenburg now, for the first time ever is the Pan-African flag in recognition of Black Heritage Month. A handful of people attended the flag-raising ceremony where Lunenburg Mayor Matt Risser made remarks about the importance of black heritage in Lunenburg. Mayor Risser shared the stories of two former slaves from the area. A black woman known only as Sylvia formerly played an important role in the town’s protection from privateers in 1782. While serving the family of John Creighton she helped protect the family and their belongings as well she helped deliver and load ammunition at the town’s blockhouse. She received no credit for her actions at the time and was buried in an unmarked grave in Halifax.

A JCP meeting held here with Cheif Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed in the chair. Sources told The Express Tribune that after brief proceedings, Chief Justice Qasim Muhammad Khan informed the members that he was withdrawing the list of nominees for reconsideration.

JCP extra cautious in appointing new judges Last meeting of panel thoroughly deliberated on foreign financial interests and debt obligations of candidates ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), which met on December 3 had thoroughly deliberated on foreign financial interests and debt obligations of prominent lawyer Babar Sattar before recommending his name for the post of additional judge of Islamabad High Court (IHC). The meeting, with Cheif Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed in the chair, had approved the names of Babar Sattar and Tariq Jahangiri as for the additional judges of IHC. Now the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment will consider the recommendation in 14 days after the JCP meeting.
