Eilean Bàn (White Island)
This six-acre island (situated between the Isle of Skye and mainland Scotland) is a haven for wildlife with otters, seals, cormorants, shags and herons regularly sighted from its shoreline.
Eilean Bàn is the former home of author Gavin Maxwell and, as such, there is a museum dedicated to him close to the water’s edge. The island supports one of the struts of Skye Bridge and has its own lighthouse, offering plenty of opportunities for wildlife, landscape and architecture images.

Strong winds are expected to hit parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland s east coast between 4am and midnight, the Met Office said.
It comes after temperatures plummeted so low that sea waves were seen freezing off the Isle of Sheppey in Kent.
Local dog walker Rob Chinn told Kent Online: I was quite surprised.

White Peak and Dark Peak; their names sound like two warring kingdoms on Middle-earth. One can be found in the lush, green south of the Peak District, with its valleys, broadleaved woodlands, wild-flower grasslands and limestone caves, while the other dwells in the northern uplands, famous for its windswept moors and gritstone crags.
In reality, these are the two main sections of the Peak District National Park, which, having become the UK’s first national park in 1951, is poised to celebrate its 70th birthday. Very different, they both make for inspirational walking.
