Hundreds of people came to Festival Square on opening day to help support local vendors.
The market had a wide variety of vendors for people to purchase locally produced materials, such as tomato plants, locally roasted coffee, farm fresh eggs and bowls made out of wood that look like leaves. There were also locally made specialty canned goods like hot asparagus bites, corn relish, apple butter and pickled beets from Mother Mary s Canning Company. There have been a lot of people coming through today, said Jerry Pond, who helps Mary Barker with Mother Mary s. It s been busy.
A booth was also set up where people could bring their dull knives and have them sharpened on the spot, while enjoying a freshly made pastry from another vendor. There were also at least two booths set up with fresh, locally produced honey.
