CHEBOYGAN Around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post were called to a crash of a privately owned airplane at the Cheboygan County Airport, west of Cheboygan.
When the troopers arrived on scene off East Levering Road, they began their investigation and found that the pilot had been approaching the airport from the west and was attempting to make a landing on the airport s runway. The pilot did not deploy his landing gear and the aircraft skidded approximately 150 yards on the runway, said Lt. Derrick Carroll, public information officer of the Michigan State Police Seventh District Headquarters.

Michigan State Police say a pilot is unharmed after a plane crash in Cheboygan County Wednesday.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post responded to the crash at the Cheboygan County Airport around 12:20 p.m.
Their initial investigation found that the pilot was approaching the airport from the West to land, but he did not deploy his landing gear.
They say the airplane skidded approximately 150 yards on the runway.
Troopers say the 66-year-old pilot from Pointe Aux Pins was not injured and was the only occupant of the plane.
They say a report and photos have been submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration for further review.
