EKM Rebels take Region 3 Championship

  Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels 46 – Linton-HMB Lions 28 Whether it was nerves or good defense, both teams started extremely slow in the Region Championship game.  The teams struggled to score early, ending the first quarter tied at six. The Rebels found a groove in the second, scoring the first seven points of the quarter.  EKM scored 18 points in the quarter while the Lions stayed cold, finishing the half shooting just 20% from the field with only two players scoring: seniors Lucas Schumacher and Carter Renz. Only three Lions scored in the game, as sophomore Trace King made a three-pointer in the third quarter.  The Lions continued to struggle through the final buzzer, finishing only 11-47 from the field (23.4%), including 4-30 from three-point land (13.3%).  Renz led the Lions with 16 points, and Schumacher finished with nine.

E-K-M Too Much For Cardinals In 57-36 Win

Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Fourth ranked Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier (EKM) pulled away from Carrington in the final quarter and earned a 57-36 District 5 victory. The Rebels had 4 players score double figures led by Alex Huber (6’6 senior) with a game high 16 points. Junior Dalton Madcke added 14 points, Paxton Mathern (6′ senior), and Chayse Entzi (6’7 senior) added 11 points each. The Cardinals played tough for 3 quarters, trailing 28-23 at halftime and 38-28 after 3 quarters before the Rebels put the game away in the final quarter. The Cardinals were paced by Lucas Hendrickson (6′ junior) with a team high 10 points, Hudson Topp added 8 points, and Grady Shipman finished with 7 points. EKM improved to 16-1 overall and 6-0 in District 5 play (will be the top seed in upcoming District 5 tournament), while Carrington dropped to 7-11 overall (2-4) in district play. Day One Stutsman County Tournament Results

Jamestown, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The boy’s Stutsman County Tournament started Thursday at the Jamestown Civic Center with four games of action.  Friday and Saturday will include four games as well, starting at 2 pm each day with games following every two hours.  Results from the first day: Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier Rebels 62 – South Border Mustangs 26 The EKM Rebels finished the first quarter with a 23-0 lead and did not look back as they cruised to a 36 point win over the South Border Mustangs in the first game of the tournament.  Seniors Alex Huber and Chayse Entzi led the Rebels with 24 and 17 points, respectively, and Entzi added 12 rebounds, including 6 on the offensive end.
