A proposed new water district in the town of Chautauqua has residents divided. During a meeting of the Chautauqua Town Board, officials held a public hearing
CHAUTAUQUA Chautauqua Institution will be providing water for a new housing project in the town.
During the Chautauqua Town Board meeting this weel, board members unanimously approved creating the Mandolin Ridge water district.
Mandolin Ridge is a 54 lot subdivision located near the intersection of Chautauqua Stedman Road and Route 394 in the town of Chautauqua. H&H Chautauqua Development LLC is the owner of the project and Mayshark Builders Inc. of Mayville is the developer.
According to Andy Johnson with Eco Strategies, the water for the housing development will be coming from the Chautauqua Utility District, which is the water supplier from Chautauqua Institution. “It’s really a win-win on a lot of levels – not only for the development itself but also they are having water problems in other parts of the town,” he said.

Construction of the Mandolin Ridge Development in the town of Chautauqua is well underway before the New Year.
The realty subdivision plans include 54 half-acre home lots as well as additional space for commercial use at the property, which is located near the intersection of Chautauqua-Stedman Road and Route 394.
The homes will be accessed by a new main entrance road located to the north of the former Mazza Winery and White Carrot Restaurant, which will run a continuous loop through the properties.
