Griffith To Retire From County Post In March | News, Sports, Jobs

Submitted photo MAYVILLE Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel announced Friday that John Griffith, county Office of Emergency Services director, will retire March 1. Griffith first began his career with the county in April 2012 as a deputy dire coordinator where he provided leadership and support to the Fourth Battalion, which includes 10 fire departments in the southeast corner of Chautauqua County. In October 2017, he was promoted to the position of director of the office. During his tenure as director, Griffith worked closely with the entire emergency services community in the county to assist the public and emergency responders. He also continued the success of the county’s paramedic fly car response team.

Dec 10, 2020 Randall Shampoe Jr., 46, of Clymer, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, in Pittsburgh, from complications of COVID-19. Randy was born Feb. 3, 1974, to Sonya Beckerink Shampoe and the late Randall Shampoe Sr. He was a 1993 graduate of Clymer Central School and attended Jamestown Community College, as well as many trainings at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls. Randy dedicated himself to serving his family and community. He took great joy in being a stay-at-home dad and caring for his children as they grew. He especially enjoyed working with his Grandpa Hiram in construction and carpentry, and boiling maple syrup with him every year.
