Panic gripped the area when a large portion of a four-storey residential building, which is stated to be decades old, collapsed in Kucha Karta Ram street near Chaura Bazaar here on Friday.
The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation failed to address major issues like overflowing sewers and rainwater logging in various parts of the city this year as well. During rainy days, sewers overflowed on Panj Peer Road, Chandigarh Road and other areas, forcing the public to face a lot of inconveniences.
Frequent road cave-ins on city roads are continuously troubling commuters. After incessant rainfall, a portion of the road caved in near Saggu Chowk in the Ludhiana West constituency on Sunday.
On Sunday, the police gave directions for one-way movement of vehicles in Chaura Bazaar to ensure smooth traffic flow but it turned out to be a “failed” experiment.
