Former president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away here on Wednesday after a prolonged illness, according to his family and party leaders. He was 80.
Hussain, who was born in Agra in 1940 and migrated with his parents to Pakistan in 1947, served as the 12th President of Pakistan between September 2013 and September 2018.Â
The senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader was diagnosed with cancer in February last year and was under treatment at a private hospital here for some days where he breathed his last, Dawn newspaper quoted PML-N Sindh additional secretary general Chaudhry Tariq as saying.

KARACHI: Former president of Pakistan and senior PML-N leader Mamnoon Husain passed away here on Wednesday, according to family and party leaders. He was in his 80s.
He left behind a widow and three sons. Time of his funeral prayer would be decided later, said Chaudhry Tariq, former coordinator of the former president and PML-N Sindh additional secretary general.
Mamnoon Husain was diagnosed with cancer in February last year and had been under treatment. He was admitted to a private hospital some days ago where he breathed his last.
Chaudhry Tariq and another PML-N leader Nasiruddin Mehmood recalled that Mamnoon Husain received education up to matric level at his home and got admission to Government Commerce College. He did MBA from IBA Karachi.
