A man died today at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) while undergoing treatment after he fell sick minutes into being detained by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) on Tuesday (March 8, 2022) night.

An elderly farmer died after he was attacked by an elephant today at Podua union in Chattogram s Rangunia upazila today.
The man was identified as Abhul Hashem (65), hailing from Tripura Sundri village of Podua union.
Masum Kabir, range officer of Ranunia Range Office under Chattogram Forest Division (South) told The Daily Star that the farmer was heading towards his land in the morning.
An elephant from a herd came emerged from the forest, grabbed him in its trunk and slammed him into the ground, leaving him seriously injured, he said.

A man was shot dead allegedly by his rivals in front of his house in Chattogram s Rangunia yesterday afternoon.
The dead, Md Mafiz, 45, was accused in six cases over robbery and arms recovery, said police.
Around 3:30pm, assailants shot Mofiz dead at Sharafbhata and fled, said Anwar Hossain, assistant superintendent of police (Rangunia circle).
On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Chattogram Medical College morgue for an autopsy, he said.
According to local sources, Mafiz s rival gang members might have killed him.

A man was shot dead in front of his house at Sharafbhata area in Chattogram s Rangunia upazila this afternoon.
The deceased, Md Mofiz, 45, was accused in six cases filed over robbery and arms recovery, said Md Anwar Hossain, assistant superintendent (Rangunia circle) of police.
Mofiz was shot in front of his house at Ganjam Sarkar Bari around 3.30pm and the perpetrators fled the scene, leaving him dead on spot, ASP Anwar Hossain told our Chattogram correspondent.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body, he said, adding that it was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for an autopsy.
