This is the time of year that I begin checking out the Myrtle Beach webcam and starting up a daydreaming ache for the ocean.
In the old days seemingly half of Elkin would congregate at Myrtle during Chatham Mill vacation week, the third week of July. With all mill operations shut down for the week, many of us took advantage and headed for the cool coast.
