TRAVERSE CITY, MI - A handful of Northern Michigan’s most well-known wineries made strong showings recently at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. From the traditional Riesling to Pinot Noir to the more unique entries like blueberry Moscato, Traverse City area wineries amassed 35 awards across several different categories.
Nearly 50 judges did blind taste tests to rank the winners in a competition considered one of the best in the country. Entries included more than 5,700 wines from more than 1,000 wineries across the United States.
The wins were a nice nod to Traverse City, and not surprising to those who follow Northern Michigan’s wine scene.
