Sinclair And Charter Reach Retrans Deal

Sinclair Broadcast Group and Charter Communications on Thursday reached a “comprehensive distribution agreement” for continued carriage of Sinclair’s TV stations, Tennis Channel, 19 Bally Sports RSN brands, Marquee Sports Network and the YES Network, in which Sinclair is a joint venture partner. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

(WKBT) Charter Communications on Thursday announced plans to deliver high-speed internet to about 143,000 Wisconsin homes and businesses. Charter will invest $500 million of private funds and $168 million in Federal Communications Commission Rural Digital Opportunity Funds to provide gigabit high-speed broadband to areas that need it in our state. The new network will offer mostly rural customers 1Gbps  high-speed broadband access, with starting speeds of 200 Mbps, enabling them to engage in remote learning, work, telemedicine and other online activities that require high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity. Charter says it will continue to apply policies including no data caps, modem fees or annual contracts.
