Regina Simms left a lasting legacy at Friends Neighborhood Bar. A year after she passed away, that’s where friends, family and fans finally raised a toast on Sunday to honor the drag mother, transgender bar manager and longtime Atlanta entertainer.
Pandemic restrictions meant shuttered doors at the bar Simms called home when she died on April 26, 2020 after a battle with cancer, just four days before her 62nd birthday. Simms often held court at the bar on Ponce de Leon Avenue as both entertainer and manager.
