Northwestern is celebrating the diversity of its community by hosting an inaugural Festival of Languages and Cultures. From May 16 to 20, language programs have been collaborating to offer opportunities for students to learn about a variety of languages and cultures. All week, language programs have set up tables with snacks and small games around.
Brookings Institution Senior Fellow Fiona Hill discussed the implications of Russia’s war on Ukraine in a Buffett Institute for Global Affairs fireside chat Monday. Hill served as national intelligence officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council from 2006 to 2009. She then served as deputy assistant to the president and senior director.
As Winter Quarter comes to a close, Northwestern is opening its summer research opportunities for undergraduate students. According to Associate Director Megan Novak Wood, the Office of Undergraduate Research provides two main research programs over the summer: summer undergraduate research grants and the undergraduate research assistant program. SURG funds independent projects with a $4,000 stipend.
Indivisible Northwestern is partnering with undergraduate students seeking the School of Education and Social Policy’s Civic Engagement Certificate to encourage more students to become civically engaged in their communities. INU is part of Indivisible, a national progressive grassroots movement. The NU chapter was created by NU Ph.D. students during the COVID-19 pandemic after the 2020.
