Charley Glasper
Thank you for the story on the passing of Adelanto leader Charley Glasper. Your story reminded me of several community projects Charley helped bring. Charley led the renovation of a broken tennis court located behind Richardson Hall into a cool BMX bike and skateboard park. The park is special as Charley organized local skaters and bikers to help design its features. The park s opening ushered in additional upgrades to Richardson Park. Charley also helped St. Mary and Adelanto Elementary School District repair, then open, the city s only public pool. The pool remains a break for countless families during the hot summer weather.

Air Force veteran and former Adelanto Mayor Charley B. Glasper, once said, “When I leave this Earth, please know that heaven is where I’m bound, so don’t cry for me.”
The 84-year-old Glasper, who served three terms on the Adelanto City Council, died Friday evening at Victor Valley Global Medical Center in Victorville after going into cardiac arrest at home, according to his wife, Evelyn Malcom-Glasper, who spoke with the Daily Press.
“He was five days away from celebrating his 85th birthday,” she said. “Charley always told me that he wanted to live to be 100 so Willard Scott from ‘The Today Show’ could announce his birthday on TV.”
