A federal judge has approved the sale of a helicopter surrendered by one of Gov. Jim Justice s coal companies to an Indian construction technology firm. The sale follows the Justice company, Bluestone Resources Inc., failing to pay a $13 million judgment awarded to Caroleng Investments Limited in a coal production-related dispute.
Current County Attorney Marc Slotnick will be appointed Kanawha County commissioner following the resignation of longtime commissioner Kent Carper.
Slotnick will serve the remainder of Carper s term until the winner of the November election — either Democratic nominee Natalie Tennant or Republican nominee Chris Walters — will take over and serve a six-year term.
