Linsey Marr, a university distinguished professor and the Charles P. Lunsford Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, on Wednesday was named one of 2023's MacArthur Fellows, a prestigious award known as the "genius grant." The environmental engineer is among 20 people recognized for their writing, visual art, music composition, scientific research and other work, who each receive $800,000 that they can use with no strings attached to further their work.
