Startup AirByte Aims to Make Its Open Source ETL Connector Specs the Standard And now it has $5.2 million in seed funding to realize its vision of taking the pain out of enterprise data extraction.
Being able to quickly extract data from multiple sources for processing has become a crucial business capability. AirByte, a startup that s just about eight months old, is building open source solutions to make that extraction easier for enterprises. The company recently raised a $5.2 million seed round, with participation by major VC players, to go after the opportunity.
AirByte s goal is to take the pain out of building and maintaining the pipelines needed to carry data from sources such as data warehouses, data lakes, and databases to destinations including cloud data warehouses, like Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, and BigQuery, or to on-premises storage for local processing.

Accel with others joining that include: YCombinator; 8VC; Calvin French-Owen, co-founder of Segment; Charles Zedlewski, former general manager at Cloudera; Auren Hoffman, co-founder and CEO of LiveRamp and CEO Safegraph; Travis May, co-founder and CEO at Datavant; and Alain Rossmann, president at Machinify.
Airbyte helps moving and consolidating data from different sources to data warehouses, data lakes or databases in a process referred to as extract, load, and, when desired, transform (ELT). Users are able to create data pipelines from sources such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Facebook Ads, Salesforce, Stripe, and connect to destinations that include Redshift, Snowflake, and BigQuery.

Airbyte, an open-source data integration platform, today announced that it has raised a $5.2 million seed funding round led by Accel. Other investors include Y Combinator, 8VC, Segment co-founder Calvin French-Owen, former Cloudera GM Charles Zedlewski, LiveRamp and Safegraph CEO Auren Hoffman, Datavant CEO Travis May and Alain Rossmann, the president of Machinify.
The company was co-founded by Michel Tricot, the former director of engineering and head of integrations at LiverRamp and RideOS, and John Lafleur, a serial entrepreneur who focuses on developer tools and B2B services. The last startup he co-founded was Anaxi.
