Angel Manuel Soto to Direct Blue Beetle, DC Films First Latino Superhero Movie Adam B. The project aims to start production in the fall. More from Variety Blue Beetle is one of the oldest comic book superheroes, first appearing as a Fox Comics character in 1939 from creator Charles Wojtkowski. The character bounced to different owners as various comics publishers folded through the 20th century, before ultimately landing at DC in the 1980s.
