CHARLESTON â A West Virginia University student has died from injuries from a fall last week, according to a news release Tuesday from the city of Morgantown.
Charles Stephen Nelson, 20, of Pikesville, Maryland, died sometime after Morgantown Police found him âlying on the sidewalk near an apartment complexâ early Friday morning, the release said.
Nelson âwas immediately transported by EMS to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital,â and officers later learned he had died, the release said.
âAt this time, there is no indication of foul play; however, the case remains open in an attempt to determine the circumstances that led to the fall,â the city said.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. Morgantown police are investigating the death of a West Virginia University student.
Officers responded May 7 to a call of a reported fall victim at 475 Baird St. Authorities noted a male lying on a sidewalk near an apartment complex, and the person was transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
During the initial investigation, officers learned the victim was Charles Stephen Nelson, 20, of Pikesville, Maryland. Nelson later died from his injuries.
The police department said Tuesday there is no indication of foul play.
