The Bears on Thursday signed 13 undrafted free agents and two first-year pros in advance of this weekend s rookie minicamp.

Daniel Archibong, Temple defensive tackle (6-6, 300)
Played in 48 games over five seasons, registering 89 tackles, 10.5 tackles-for-loss, 6.0 sacks and eight pass breakups … As a graduate student in 2020, was one of only five players to start all seven of Temple s games … Earned criminal justice degree in 2019 and wants to work for the FBI.
William Cervenka, Clemson guard (6-3, 325)
Appeared in 46 games with 23 starts over four seasons from 2016-19 … Redshirted as defensive tackle in 2015 before switching to offensive line in 2016 … Clemson posted 29-1 record in his two seasons as starter, winning 2018 national championship … Set school record with 44 bench press reps of 225 pounds in 2019 … Only four-time state heavyweight high school wrestling champion in South Carolina history; compiled 199-1 record as

Generally speaking, rookie minicamps are unusual endeavors.
Draft picks and undrafted players come together for workouts over several days and sometimes mix in with some of a team s practice squad players in order to fill out all the positions and make scrimmaging possible.
Yet, it s non-contact so no pads, and there are players involved who are there only on a tryout basis. This year teams are allowed only five of these due to the pandemic so the numbers at Halas Hall will be down at Bears rookie minicamp Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The focus for this camp is an easy call. Everyone wants to see Justin Fields as he makes his first throws in a Bears uniform at a practice.
Bears sign Virginia LB Charles Snowden as UDFA
The Bears appear to have made a splash in free agency.

The Bears have made a splash in undrafted free agency, signing Virginia linebacker Charles Snowden after the conclusion of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Snowden leaves Virginia with 191 total tackles, 30.5 tackles for a loss and 15 sacks in his collegiate career. A three-year starter for the Cavaliers, he possesses insane length at 6-foot-6 and 243 pounds for a player who primarily played as an off-ball linebacker in college.
He was invited to the Senior Bowl but was unable to participate in on-field activities due to a season-ending ankle injury suffered in November, which presumably led to his becoming undrafted this year.

We’ll know the true value of this draft in a few years, but for now, the Chicago Bears’ 2021 class is the best according to the numbers.
