NEW PHILADELPHIA Earth Day is April 22 and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is celebrating with an Earth Day Cleanup Challenge.
Walkers, hikers, and boaters are encouraged to grab a pair of gloves and a trash bag to pick up litter between Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 25. Those who post photos of their cleanup to an MWCD Facebook or Instagram page using #MWCDEarthDay2021 will be entered into a drawing for a cooler filled with prizes and gift certificates.
Those who join an organized cleanup at one of the MWCD lakes earn a coupon for a night of free camping one coupon per household. The first cleanup will take place on Saturday at Charles Mill, Pleasant Hill and Seneca lakes. The second is on April 24 at Atwood, Clendening, Piedmont and Tappan lakes.

Two Madison High School graduates, Vanessa Smith and Alyssa Huss, are operating the new business in the building owned by Joe and Gretchen Dzugan, who renovated the former Rite Aid building on Seltzer Street, and have been seeking the right tenant for it.
Smith said someone told Joe Dzugan to reach out to her and her husband, who own the business Create, Restore and More that refinishes and builds furniture. Dzugan found them at their booth during the Prairie Peddler Festival. My husband talked to him and he said, Hey, I have this building; I don t really know what to do with it, she said.
