Micka s Market in Monroe once offered quality meats By Tom Adamich MCCC Digital Collections Micka’s Market, located at 199 Cole Rd. in Monroe was once a popular place to buy quality meats.  I reached out to Dick Micka – who is one of our local water conservation and environmental advocates and expert – for some historical perspective.  Here is some of what I learned from an interview with Dick. His father, Charles Micka was a “výrobce klobás” – a “sausage maker” in Czechoslovakia.  Charles J. Micka (spelled “Meechka” in Czech) was born on May 4, 1911 in Antwerp, Ohio and his family – father Joe, mother Katerina, sister Mary, and Charles lived in Renollet, Ohio – a village located near Defiance, Ohio off of U.S. 24 that met a terrible fate on March 28, 1920 (Palm Sunday) when it was completely destroyed by a tornado.  According to a March 29, 1920 article in the Fort Wayne News Sentinel, six people were killed and several of Renollet’s 100 residen
